Name: Russell Pavey

Nick Name: Big russ- It came about because there were two Russell's, not for any other reason!

Residence: Arundle

Family: Wife Caroline, Twins Will & James 9, Sarah 4

Occupation: Fruit & Vegetable wholesaler

Years in sport: 10

Career Highlight: Everytime I push the start button

Hobbies outside of racing: 4wd driving

How I got started in racing: By going to Surfers raceway as a 12 year old watching racers like Graham Cowin in Nitro funnycars The best bit was being so close ,feeling the exhaust on your face, eyes stinging with nitro, unable to breathe because of smoke and feeling the vibration through your chest- thinking I've got to have a go at that.

What I love about racing: The technical challenge to go faster and be more consistent

The toughset thing about racing: Not being able to do it full time

Toughest loss: Is always when I throw away a race

Favourite opponent: Captain Crusty in the Nasty Bug

Last person I'd want to race in a final: Juan Kudnig was always a worry

Person I'd most admire in racing: David Grimes (crew chief for Rick Santos)

If I wasn't racing I'd: have to find something else to talk about

Life long hero: Rick Santo- damn fast at every race he attended -ran 5.28 in an alcohol dragster back in 2001. Won every thing for 7 years and retired.

I'm really bad at: Cleaning up

Favourite tv show: Simpsons / Mythbusters

Favourite Music: Anything christian but some doof doof is good

Personal car: Nissan Patrol

What really annoys me: Politics, Tax

Nobody knows: Iam a gun freak

I'd give anything to meet: Brad Anderson and be adopted

Biggest regret: taking a friend's word about the condition of an engine and buying a lemon

I hope I never have to: Move countries to go racing

Smartest thing I've ever done: Sacked a big block Ford and bought a Hemi

Dumbest thing I've ever done: Forgot to set the timing before a race and bounced the main caps, real bad on my big block Ford

Best advice I've ever had: Only ask advice from some one who has been where you want to go

Best advice to a new racer: Make a plan and stick to it

If could race anything it would be: Top doorslammer
