Drag racing legend Roly Leahy has passed away. On behalf of the SPDRA our thoughts are with Roly”s family at this tough time. Roly was a close friend to many members of our club and will be sadly missed.
Peter Leahy has explained to me that after the ceremony, Roly will be carried out of the church and be placed in the Hearse. At the front of the Church will be ( 6 ) Front Engined Dragsters including Roly's own car. All cars, except Roly's, will be started together for a mini cacklefest for a couple of minutes. They will then be turned off. At this time Roly's car will be started and will run until it runs out of fuel....then the Hearse will leave the church.It will be a very fitting and moving tribute to a man who dedicated a lot of life to the sport of Drag Racing and will always be remembered as an absolute legend of the sport. |
