Thank you to all those who attended the last meeting and supported the club.

As you all know we had a small problem with the web site last month but it was sorted out prior to the close of the meeting.

The next event that the club members attended was the Warwick Drag Fest 2008. The meeting attracted

some 140 entrants for the event making for  a great weekend.  We had our  reporter / photographer Mark on site to capture all the action. Bart took his LJ Torana up for a run with his new engine combination. The 355 stroker now on methonal ran faster and faster and Bart is more than happy with his ride. Tim Caswell had the Ford out for some fun and ran some great numbers winning 2 from three with some controversy at the end but a great effort as always. Christopher Schaper  had his dad out helping him with the JD getting some valuable track time, also out with the JD’s was the Wong family giving all the other competitors a hard time. Mark and Ian were also out helping out Craig’s Brother from Dubbo who drove up for the event he won three from three but lost in the semi-finals and from all reports the weekend was a great one.

Just up the road on the same weekend Palmyra had their ANDRA SunStates on, which attracted around 120 entrants from around the country. The weather leading up to the event was not the best but that didn’t stop Christine from instructing Ricky to go for a drive, or Choppers from joining me for a road trip and Ian taking his car up there with Booth Transport. We all arrived on the Friday with plenty of time on our hands. Darren and Ian had some confusion with the pit area and some bikie wanted them to move but guess what - they didn’t move. Ricky and Christine and crew went to their motel for a sleep and we just sat around and relaxed. The afternoon came around and time to get ready for the Friday night practice all’s well every body started warming their cars up and we found a problem. We had no gears and this was not good as we had tested the car on the Thursday morning.

We checked the gears prior to leaving and every thing was fine. As most of you know we broke the engine two weeks earlier at Willowbank and Ricky, Kev and Choppy worked their long hours to have the car ready for Palmyra so this was a major disappointment . We placed a call to John Cannuli and he had a number of a guy in  town who could fix it before Saturday so every body pitched in and pulled the box out dropped it off got it fixed put it back in and out for the first qualifier. Thank you to all who helped,

On the Saturday morning the wind had got up so their was a meeting held and the decision was made to run some cars over the eighth mile. We had three runs and went out for first round. The Supercharged Outlaws winner was Christine and what a great weekend she had,  the car run great  and she drove well putting  some big names on the trailer. The Steffens team are out to win and all the outlaw drivers are in for a shock. Ricky  not only had the small block to fix after Willowbank  but Christine torched the heads and Ricky had to replace them prior to the meeting so the hard work was all worth it .

Ian and the new crew chief had their system sorted out as he had a great weekend going through to the final. The car run great all weekend without any problems however their was some controversy in the final, and a re-run was needed with Ian missing out on the win. As usual we all had a great weekend and a safe trip home.

Last weekend their was a bracket meeting on and no rain. After three attempts this would be the weekend that Junior Booth would have the JD out for his license testing. What a great looking car he has and he ran 8.55 and the JD’s are only allowed to run 8.50 so Congratulations and the crew chief had him sorted out. Speaking about the crew chief his new CHEVY has arrived and after the Dyno run it made 850hp so can’t wait to see the car hit the track.

Bart had the LJ out and was happy with a 10.58 @ 123mph. He now has some sorting out to do and I am sure the car will go faster. Bart has his race suit at the dry cleaners after the car in the other lane hit the wall in front of him.

Ian and Dale had their cars out and not the usual runs for them as they both were out in early rounds however Dale went further for the bragging rights.

Ricky had the Funny car out for some testing prior to the Xmas meeting and things are not going his way at the moment but I am sure he will get on top of it soon.

To all other members that are working on their cars/bikes drop me a line and I will update the members on your progress.
