Thank you to all who attended the last meeting and to those members that helped with the Bar and raffle. As you were all aware the last meeting was the AGM and we had a great roll up of members. It was nice to see Casey back at the club and thank you to those members that were unable to attend and still sent in their votes. The meeting commenced with Mark reading the Minutes from the previous meeting then the Treasurers report from Christine and the Committee Members all stood down.
Lawrie Moore chaired the AGM and called for Nominations for the positions of President , Secretary, Treasurer and Committee members. The re-election of the President Robert Coleman Secretary Mark Bourke Treasurer Christine Steffens New Committee members Russell Pavey Darren Booth John Boatwright The meeting then continued with a wrap up of the Winternationals and the club was well represented at this meeting with the following members competing. Jakim Wong Tazmin Wong Christopher Schaper Russell Pavey John Cannuli Wayne Smith Malcolm Brooks Jimmy Clayton Brad Johnson Peter Merrigan Casey Mortensen Tim Caswell Christine Steffens Robert Coleman Ian Neilson I left the best till last as Ian Neilson Top Qualified in his class, great job Ian you just need to slow the Chev down if you can. (p.s. that is why Darren wants one). Not only did we have a great roll up of competitors but how about the club members at one stage over the weekend I counted 17 members helping their mates out and showing Interest in what was going on around them. We changed from the breakfast this year and went for a get together on the Thursday and Friday Nights. This was changed as some of the members had to start racing at 8.00am. Over the two nights we had a great response with racing completed and had time to relax and talk about the days events. Thursday night we had 57 people and Friday 61 making use of the club BBQ. Thank you to Veronika & Michael (Thursday) and Darren Booth (Friday) for taking time out to go into town and pick up the food required for the nights dinner, also to those people who helped with the BBQ and food preparation. On the Saturday night after the last bracket was over (outlaws ) at midnight we lit the BBQ again with what was left over and around 24 people turned up. A great effort from all the club members and friends. Mark had the club sign updated and I hung prodley over the fence at the BBQ site for all to see. On the Saturday night Craig and Royce (the starter) from Willowbank called in for a drink and Royce drew the raffle and the winners were. First Prize John Sting Second Domenica Divita Third Veronika Schaper Thank you to all who participated in the selling of the raffle tickets as it has raised money for our Presentation Night. Also at the winters over on the hill was Simon Holgerson (not over the hill) and maybe he might be looking at a return to drag racing after his spell. I noticed that both cars are not in Dragster any more. Also I seen JB”s old car at the winters and it still looks the same as the photo on the wall. The Presentation Night is to be held on the 6th September at Currumbin Creek Tavern. This year we will start at 6.30 and go until 12.00pm. We will have more information at the next meeting. If you have any new photos of your bike or car please put them on a disc and we will add them to the club disc. This years presentation night will have some changes, we would like you to book your tickets in table groups. This will help with the catering and table set out. We are having live music, give aways , raffles , free soft drink, and lollies for the kids so come along and have some fun and help make our presentation night a night to remember. Our next day out is the Dave Stokoe memorial golf day. Each year Mark & Esther arrange a golf day in memory of a true club member. Over the past two years I have attended the golf day and what a great day, if you think you can’t play golf well I am sure that there will be one of us just as bad. You will need a handkerchief to wipe the tears form your eyes and a helmet for some of the stray balls, if you don’t have clubs you can hire them at the course. This year we will be playing at the COPLICKS GOLF COURSE TALLEBUDGERA Tee off at 1.00pm so could you try to be there prior to tee off. Any one who knows that they will be attending please call Mark and let him know. At the end of the game there will be prizes and a BBQ provided. The club has bar facilities the day will costs $25 if you have your own clubs and $30 for clubs and a push buggy. After the ANDRA nominations were completed South Queensland has a new Divisional Director ,Christine Steffens and from the club we wish her all the best with your new position. |
