Thank you to all those who attended the last meeting and supported the club.

For those who attended, you would have heard the comment that Robert made regarding the news letter.   After a later conversation with Darren Robert has offered to complete the news letter for the new year.

The news letter will now have regular reports from Laurie Moore on DC meetings, Dale Wong on JD’s, Chris Paterson on bikes, Mark Bourke on ST, SS, SG, Robert and the Barman will do the rest.

PLEASE NOTE MEMBERSHIP FOR 2010 ARE NOW DUE THANK YOU

The year has now past and the last club outing was the Xmas party.

I arrived late as I had other family commitments. There was a great mix of members, guests and family there.  Darren and Ian shopped the previous day and they had plenty of food and nibbles for every one.  This year we had a new Santa and what a great job he did.   Santa arrived in style by boat to the delight of all the kids both young and old.   With all the attention Santa received he will not have to be asked next year however the previous two Santa’s may have stretched the outfit a little and some adjustments may need to be made.   A full set of Xmas photos will be at the next meeting for all to see.

Darren has been out testing and things have not come together just yet but he has more testing prior the round two of the new year series.

Ian may also test on the same day with John Cannuli.   Ricky has also been out testing with the flopper at Willowbank prior to his trip to Perth Motorplex. He completed a clean half track pass then the rain set in so off to Perth for the boxing day meeting.   After a lot of hard work the flopper was out for the first pass and not so good with the drive shaft breaking and destroying the clutch, unfortunately there was too much damage and not enough time to repair between rounds so it was over for the weekend.  Jimmy and Jason had the probe out for testing at Willowbank and also made one pass before the rain set in.

The new years round one has been and gone and what a meeting it was from the JD,s to the Floppers.

Dale has gone on holidays and  I have just got back so the JD report is as follows:

Both Tasmin and Jakim  competed having a very hot and humid start to the year. Dale was happy with both  cars and expressed how hot the kids were feeling.   Both cars ran well and are looking forward to the next meeting.

Chris has this report on the bikies the usual suspects, Smith & Brooks with crew chiefs were the only bikers from the club. Wild Wheely Wayne hadn’t been in the saddle for over a month and needed a shot of gas to get moving, but lack of traction saw him wheel spinning to half track in the first qualifier.  Second qualifier the bike hooked up off the line with Wayne riding the bucking Kwaka one handed rodeo style. Something to do with the gloves he reckoned. Third one was ok.

Swifty Brooks had it sorted from the start with some quick reaction times and fast passes in qualifying, might have something to do with his start line umbrella holder keeping him cool — don’t think so.   First round of racing started at about 10pm and still very hot and humid.   The track seemed ok after the rain and as like all riders/drivers/crews every one was feeling a little ragged.  Wayne was out first round and will be back in two weeks.  Swifty had no trouble staying cool and focused giving him wins all the way through eliminations.  12.47am and the bike final was against new comer Roland, Red Dragon.  Half a second wait then off on the blazing Busa took Brooksy to the win.   Well done Mal on your win.

Marks report on the super street, super sedan and super gas:

Super street had one club member race and that was Trev in his Cortina and the Willowbank results page has not give us much info so we will find out a bit more re his day at the next meeting.

Super Sedan saw the return of Mark after a long rest, he came out for his three qualifiers and ran all but the same time on each one, however in round one the old red light.   Bart did not have the weekend he wanted being pushed twice but will be back in two weeks.   Leigh had his Ute out and what a nice car this is he went a few rounds and was happy with the car and he will also  be back next weekend.

Supercharged outlaws was an interesting bracket with Jimmy/Jason, Tim Caswell, Christine Steffens, Brad Johnson, Les Rodgie all pushing their cars to qualify in the field.   Jason driving the Probe for Jimmy had a great day as the car went down the track five times straight and clean and after speaking with them they were both happy for the data and are looking

forward to the next round.  Brad (Stefan) Johnson pushed the little Gemini a little too hard and had a small problem when the piston came out the motor all by itself, however he had every thing at the engine shop on Monday for repairs ready for the next meeting.   Christine had a lot on her mind with Bonehead driving the flopper and the heat.   She went a few rounds and broke out and this is not the norm for this team.   Don’t be surprised if the dragster is not at the next meeting.   Les Rodgie how good is this car top qualifying again and the team is just happy to be out racing and enjoying themselves and looking forward to the next outing.   Yes again Tim Caswell proves that you don’t need one of them fancy Dragsters or altered to win outlaws he drove the car as he always does.   Tim has a very good package and has proven time and time again that if you know your car you can win.   Tim won the same meeting last year and also won round two of the new years series so good luck next time.

Nitro Funny Cars and Ricky was back to punish himself again.   Unfortunately the rain came and reduced the racing to two rounds.   The first round Ricky was out about 330 feet and had bad tyre shake, the car headed to the centre line and he lifted the foot.   On the second pass a fuel line came off and put fuel under the tyres, in his words “driver scared and lifted foot again”.   I have spoken to Ricky and he is looking forward to this weekend.

Thank you and hope you all have a good and safe weekend.
