Thank you to all those who attended the last meeting and supported the club. Our newsletter now has regular reports from Laurie Moore on DC meetings, Dale Wong on JD’s, Chris Paterson on bikes, Mark Bourke on ST, SS, SG, Robert and the Barman will do the rest. PLEASE NOTE: 2010 MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE NOW DUE THANK YOU As expected the hype around the AUSTRALIA V USA Funny Car round two was going to be a blast with more cars coming. As we know Ricky had some data after round one and was positive about the changes they were making to the car. For those who may not have attended the meeting the performance from the Rod Bailey / Ricky Steffens team was outstanding. The car performed on track as it should and Ricky proved that he has a handle on the driving. During the day the team worked nonstop on the car and between the second pass and the last pass the crew performed outstandingly, they serviced the car and turned it around in record time. I looked over and everybody was on a high as this car had given them no trouble in two meetings. Ricky commented to the crew (you guys are awesome) and it’s off to the start line. Jack Wyatt and Mark Sheehan were first out both having problems and not completing full passes. Next up was Chris Stipanovich completing his licensing passes and this car sounded great, look for him in the future as he has a long family history in Funny cars. The next pairing was Steffens V Harris wow what a pass both cars all the way to the finish line with full candles over the roof Harris 4.86 and Steffens 5.16 the fastest side by side pass in Australia. Back in the pits there were plenty of praises for both drivers and smiles all around. Super Gas Well some people try for years and then along comes Neilson, Ian to them who know him and kicks their butt at the first outing. Ian and crew chief Dale were out for some testing on the Thursday and it obviously paid off as the car went straight down the track and straight into the winners circle. Ian drove the car well and changed a few things along the way. The car ran a 9.90 on a 9.90 not bad and I am sure we will hear about it a bit more at the next meeting. Super Street Trev raced again but our roving reporter failed to catch up with him again so let’s hope he is at the club meeting for an update. Super Sedan Bart was back for round two and the Holden’s bad luck was still with him as he only made two passes and it was back on the trailer with a suspected blown head gasket. Mark had the Ford out again and he had been practicing his lights with a 0.022 in round one but his dial in was a bit off (should have listened to the crew) and lost. Darren also had the new Blue car out for some testing on the Thursday and was happy with the performance and that showed on the Saturday also. After the second qualifier he was on top and only got bumped off in the last to place him in second. The car ran well all day however in racing he had George Wagner in round one and the rumour is, brake pedal tapping will slow the car down and loose the race. I was speaking to Darren after the meeting and he was happy with the car and is looking forward to the next outing. Supercharged Outlaws All the regular club members were out for this meeting including Les Rodgie out in qualifying with a broken engine. Tim Caswell going down in round one with a very close .017 margin. Brad Johnson red light in round one however he and his crew did a great job to turn the car around after a lost engine at round one. Jimmy and Jason ran the cars first pass in the sevens with Jason at the wheel and were very happy with the cars performance and will continue to creep up on the tune. Modified Bike Both Wayne and Mal had their bikes out again with their crews and both these teams must have some interesting bragging rights as round one of the series Mal wins and yes in the second Wayne wins. From all reports the racing was hard as 20 bikes turned up to contest the event. In the final both bikes went under their dial ins and Wayne was the closer and the winner I am not sure but I think it was his first win. Junior Dragster Christopher was the only JD racing from the club and he broke out in round one but he is ready to go again (so is his dad). The Wongs were not racing as they had been on holidays. Testing Also out testing was the Crossroads team with both Paul and John out with their cars. John had some problems with the Funny Car but Paul ran an outstanding 247mph in the Doorslammer. John tracked over to WA for the Top Alcohol meeting and he was very happy with the cars performance as he went through and won the meeting. It’s good to see this team have a win as they are always out testing and trying new things. Congratulations to all the above competitors and members. To all the club members and friends who have attended the last few meetings thank you from all the competitors for you support. As the barman had his report edited from the last letter he has failed to give a report other than who hit the roo in the big black car? Thank you PRINTABLE NEWSLETTER
