May 2012 Newsletter

 Hi all.

My how quickly the month and the year has gone.

Next Wednesday is our club meeting for May (yes the winters is only a few weeks away). This meeting will be our Annual General Meeting for 2012 and we will be appointing our executive for the next year.

Please remember if you wish to vote for any positions where we have 2 or more nominations you will need to be a financial member so if you haven’t paid your membership dues as yet please do so at your earliest convenience.

After the AGM is over we will have a short chat, with the winters so close it would be good to hear how everyone is preparing for the big event. We hope to have some exciting news for club members and their crews for the winters as well so watch this space.

Since our last club meeting we have had Willowbank’s round of the eighth mile series.  Remember this series is sponsored by club member John Payne’s JP racing.

We had 2 club members competing, Tazmin Wong in Junior Dragster, she had a good day winning 2 out of 3 rounds and only losing the 3rd round by 1 thousandth of a second.  She also cut a perfect .000 light on the day as well.

The other racer was Leigh Ryan in his first passes with his now blown small block truck. The car ran fast and straight all day recording a best of 4.88 seconds over the eighth.

Quite a few club members were readying themselves for the Super Sportsman Race but unfortunately the weather gods struck again and the meeting was cancelled.

That’s it for now.

Remember Entries for the Winternationals close on the 18th May and there is the last sportsman round for the season on the 19th May.

See you all at the AGM.
